Mary Coleman: Beginners Bobbin Lacemaking

Mary Coleman: Beginners Bobbin Lacemaking

Mary Coleman from the Lace Guild in Stourbridge is kicking off a brand new lifelong learning programme of events at the Portal.

On Tuesday 16th January from 1pm-4pm, you can join Mary in her workshop to learn the art of Bobbin lacemaking and make your own piece to take home!

Bobbin lacemaking is a form of weaving worked on a pillow. Mary will guide students through the basic moves that make up the ‘stitches’ in order to complete a first piece of lace.

Equipment and materials will be provided.

Mary’s workshop will take place in our learning room at the Portal visitor centre.

This half day workshop will cost £50 per person and can be booked online or telephone 0121 557 6265.
