Armed Forces Day 2015 is just over a month away and the countdown is now on to the borough’s biggest family day out!
The event, held at the prestigious Himley Hall and Park on Sunday June 28, from 11am to 5pm celebrates the work of servicemen and women.
Admission to the event is free and with Punch and Judy shows, go karts, a zip line, climbing walls, a paintball range, a Ferris wheel and lots more, we’ve got plenty of things going on to keep the whole family entertained!
There will also be a display of historic vehicles and a WWI living history camp for people to get up close and explore, as well as a vintage fair presented by Kiki and Honey.
The popular youth marching band competition will kick off at 11.30am in the event’s main arena at the front of the hall, before the formal proceedings start at around 2.30pm.
Second World War veterans who served on the arctic convoys and in the Bomber Command, as well as anyone else who thinks they may be eligible to apply for an HM Armed Forces Veterans Badge can apply for their badge before Armed Forces Day by calling the Veterans UK helpline on 0808 1914 218 or email SPVA-VeteransBadges@mod.uk or firstname.lastname@example.org to apply.
Veterans need to have applied for and received their badges in order to have them presented on the day.
