We all want more people to discover the treasures Dudley holds, don’t we? Well, the council’s new-look tourism website, together with this brand new blog, hopes to entice more visitors to do just that!
Costumed and colourful characters climbed aboard a Dudley Canal Trust boat this week to help launch the new site – showing the fun people can have right here in the heart of the Black Country.
The updated website with blog will be supported by these dedicated twitter and facebook feeds and has been commissioned by the Discover Dudley group, which consists of council attractions such as the Red House Glass Cone, Himley Hall and Dudley Town Hall plus major visitor attractions including Dudley Zoo and the Black Country Living Museum as well as hoteliers and restaurants.
The easily searchable online annual events calendar brings everything together in one place for the first time – so visitors and locals can check out what’s going on day-to-day.
Regular blog posts will also highlight special interest events, offer news about developments at individual attractions and spread the word about Dudley tourism in general. It will also host competitions to win some fab Dudley prizes and special offers only available to blog visitors – so it’s worth keeping your eye on!
Councillor David Sparks, leader of Dudley Council, said:
“Tourism represents a huge income stream for the UK and it is important that Dudley punches its weight both nationally and internationally to attract visitors.
“We have some fantastic and unique places for tourists to visit and great connectivity to the wider West Midlands and the rest of the UK.
“We hope the new website and supporting marketing activity will play a key role in supporting our tourism aspirations.”
