We may already know how fab our attractions are in Dudley, but it’s always nice to see them recognised on a wider scale – and you can’t get much wider than the international travel review site TripAdvisor!
Not one, not two, but three of our amazing Dudley visitor attractions have been awarded the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence for 2014 – and for some this isn’t their first time.
TripAdvisor is the world’s largest travel site, enabling travellers to plan their perfect trip with more than 150 million reviews posted by travellers around the world.
Their ‘Certificate of Excellence’ award is given to establishments that consistently achieve outstanding traveller reviews, with only the top 10 percent receiving the prestigious award.
To qualify for the Certificate of Excellence, businesses must maintain an overall rating of four or higher, out of a possible five, as reviewed by travellers on TripAdvisor.
Receiving the award for the second year running, June Hodgetts, General Manager of Dudley Canal Trust Trips Ltd said: “Receiving this award is the icing on the cake for us. We’ve had a fantastic year so far in terms of visitor figures, and this tells us that people are greatly enjoying their visits. We’re proud to be one of Dudley’s favourite visitor attractions.”
The award, for them, comes at a really exciting time as Dudley Canal Trust start work on their Portal project, a £3 million development due to open in 2015 at the Todd’s End site funded by grant giving bodies including the Heritage Lottery Fund and European Regional Development Fund.
It is one of a number of recent projects aimed at developing tourism within the borough, providing enhanced visitor facilities.
