There’s grrreat excitement at Dudley Zoo as they prepare for tomorrow’s Global Tiger Day celebrations.
Their beautiful tigeress, Daseep, has been chosen as the face of the event and they are celebrating with a host of tiger-tastic activities.
There’ll be lots going on throughout the day, including special talks at the tigers’ Tecton enclosure at 12.30pm and 3.15pm, where visitors will be able to watch Daseep and our male tiger, Joao, delve into some enrichment activities.
Tiger onesie-wearing staff will also be handing out Global Tiger Day stickers to visitors, face painters will be producing tiger faces and scrummy tiger tea cupcakes will be served in the QM Oak Kitchen Restaurant.
Global Tiger Day is an international conservation campaign that aims to raise awareness of tigers and their survival in the wild.
There are fewer than 140 surviving Sumatrans, like Daseep and Joao at Dudley Zoo, and the venue plays a pivotal role in the survival of these magnificent creatures helping ensure that extinction is not an option.
Find out more about the zoo’s conservation, education and awareness work on their website here.
Or, even better, visit them tomorrow and hear first-hand from keepers and staff about their work!
