Not long to wait now until the massive family-day event celebrating our British Armed Forces hits Himley Park – and we’ve just found out Dudley’s Nando’s will be flying in to give out free chicken wings!
There’s already loads of activities and events happening throughout the day to tempt you to come along, but we thought this would put the icing on the cake (or the baste on the wing)!
Staff at the restaurant, based in Castlegate Leisure Park, will also be offering free face painting and giving out some colourful balloons to little ones enjoying the commemorative festivities.
Manager of the Dudley Nando’s restaurant, Adam Newell, said: “We’re just proud to play a small part in such a fantastic day.”
It will be first come, first served for the wings though – so make sure you’re an early bird!
Armed Forces Day is a national initiative that aims to raise public awareness of the contribution made to our country by those who serve, or have served, in Her Majesty’s Armed Forces. It also gives the nation an opportunity to show our support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community, from currently serving troops to service families, and veterans to cadets.
The event at Himley Hall & Park on Sunday, 29th June will include activities for all ages, a military vehicle exhibition and youth marching band competition.
Formal celebrations in the afternoon will include a veterans badge presentation, concert by the West Midlands Fire Service Band and a spectacular Beating of the Retreat.
