Real Ale fans can taste a trip back in time at Canal festival

DCTRealAleDid you make it along to the Dudley Canal Trust’s first ever Real Ale Festival last year?

Well, you won’t want to miss it this year as a brand new brew will make its first appearance at the event.

Dudley Canal Trust partnered with Sadler’s of Lye to recognise the Trust’s 50th anniversary, by creating their own unique, celebratory ale.

Supporters of the Trust were asked to come up with a name for the Sadler’s ale and the panel chose Gillian Olivia Fisher’s suggestion of ‘A Trip Back in Time’.

This will be one of over 60 different ales available to try at July’s festival – which has been timed and themed to tie in with the inaugural Black Country Day festivities.

Ales from Sadler’s of Lye and Black Country Breweries will join others from further afield and souvenir glasses will be on sale, as well as a range of hot food.

The event, which runs from Wednesday 2nd to Saturday 5th July, will be held at the Trust’s site on the Birmingham New Road in Dudley. Entry is just £2, or free for CAMRA and DCT members. More details are available on the Trust’s website and Facebook page.
