Celebrate in style this weekend as we honour our favourite dragon slayer – the one and only St. George!
Dudley will pay tribute to our patron saint of England on Saturday 25th April with a day of fun and excitement in Halesowen.
We’re hoping for a scorcher… so get dragon the family down there!
With entertainment throughout the day from the likes of Sedgley Morris Men, Halesowen Scout Band, the Lauren Dion School of Dance, Pure Harmony, Rock Choir, Coseley Comets and the Theatre of Alchemy’s baby dragon puppets, the jam-packed day will be full of high kicks and high jinx for the whole family to enjoy.
Maggie O’Hara will lead a patriotic sing-a-long in Somers Square followed by a civic address on the main stage at noon.
Budding bakers out there are invited to enter the Great Halesowen Bake Off competition*. The tasty creations will be judged later in the morning and sold off in aid of the Mayor’s charities from 12.30pm.
Halesowen Library have lots on for children to do throughout the day including crafty fun, storytelling and puppet storytelling sessions, a dressing-up area and photo booth, pin the tail on the dragon and an English tea party with cupcakes!
And if that wasn’t enough to fill your day there will also be children’s fairground rides, craft activities with Dudley Council’s Juniors at Museums Club, face painting, a birds of prey display by Skyhunters, a barrel organ and crafts with the adult and family learning team and information stands!
*Bakers are asked to enter their cakes between 9am and 10.15am and to complete this application form.
