Teenage traders wanted

A call has gone out to all young entrepreneurs to take up a free stall and sell, sell, sell when Dudley hosts its first Teenage Market day!

Teenage traders who want to showcase their products or services are being encouraged to take up a free stall on Saturday 31st October.

Up to 30 stalls will be set up in Stone Street Square as well as a stage for any young performers who want to entertain shoppers.

Scores of Teenage Markets have sprung up all over the country thanks to the brainchild of two brothers Tom and Joe Barratt who wanted to revitalise their home town’s market in Stockport.

The idea quickly took off and has now got backing from the Queen of Shops Mary Portas who described the scheme as innovative and inspiring.

In Dudley organisers want to hear from teenagers who want to set up shop and sell anything from clothes and crafts to artwork and antiques.

They also want to hear from young performers who want to take to a stage in Stone Street Square to put on entertainment during the day.

The Teenage Market will complement Dudley’s existing market which has benefited from more than £6 million investment funded by the European Regional Development Fund and Dudley Council.
