Work out your New Year fitness plan

hikingHave you resolved to get fitter in 2015? It’s one of the most popular New Year’s resolutions, but our resolve can often dissolve by the end of January!

We’re all guilty of it, making grand statements as the new year starts – ‘lose a stone’, ‘focus on my health’, ‘walk more’… but then we fail to plan how we’re going to achieve our lofty goals.

You don’t need to spend hours in the gym to feel healthier and fitter this year (although, if that’s your thing, we can recommend the facilities at the Village Hotel on Castlegate or Copthorne, Merry Hill).

There are plenty of other activities available in Dudley borough that will help you stay trim and feel fabulous – and you may also find a new hobby you love!

Simply take a moment to jot down some of these activities in your diary – then turn up! It really is that simple to keep on track with a New Year fitness regime.

Learn to row at Dudley Water Sports Centre

Take to the water and learn the basics of rowing.  The next free six week courses run Sundays, 10am  to 12noon from 1 February to 8 March or 22 March to 26 April.

Outdoor fitness sessions at Priory Park

Enjoy the fresh air while you get fit at these Priory Park outdoor fitness sessions, Sundays 9-10am or Thursdays 6-7pm

Take a walk around one of our wonderful borough parks or nature reserves.

There’s a list of some of the available guided walks here.  All abilities are catered for and you will even find special walks for dog owners, or slightly unusual walking events like these Nordic walks in the dark.

Anyone for tennis?

Take lessons for just £1 per week with fully qualified Lawn and Tennis Association coaches. These sessions in Priory Park are suitable for ages five and over, every Wednesday from 3.45pm to 4.30pm.

Come on folks, no excuses. Work it out and feel fit and fabulous in 2015!
